Wedding Details

Well its less than two weeks til my single life comes to an end. The big stuff is all taken care of but the little details drag on..... Its like when you are moving. And you think you have most everything, but then the little stuff takes forever..... Our wedding is going to be super simple - nothing extravagant - no bridesmaids, no groomsmen, just us and our parents. But even still - there are lots of little details. So one of the minor details i have been thinking about - is what music to play at the reception. Just for background music - this is where i need everyone's input. I thought about it as i looked at my sister Lauren's blog and the song "True" by Ryan Cabrera was playing... I thought to myself, this would be a good song to add to the mix.. So - all those who have asked what they can do to help - please provide your fabulous ideas. I need your input!

i still am soooooooooooo impressed that you are agreeing to give up the single life - you are the coolest!!

songs i like to hear at weddings ... anything by sarah maclachlan ("adia" is very nice), harry connick jr. ("it had to be you" is classic), or sting ("fields of gold" - beautiful). all are very nice background music, and the lyrics have some meaning.

songs i DON'T like to hear at weddings ... anything too cheesy (celine dion's "my heart will go on," bette midler's "the wind beneath my wings" - and the like), the chicken dance, mc hammer "can't touch this," or right said fred "i'm too sexy for my shirt" ... very tacky.

have a blast, girlie and know that i am soooo there in spirit - and hope to visit you in nebraska sometime soon!

Collide - Howie Day
Your Song - Elton John

I'm sure I'll come up with more

Yay Heather! Thanks for sending us the invitation, I wish we could be there ... I'm sure it will be beautiful. I love cheesy wedding songs so I'm probably not one to give advice ... I love Unchained Melody or Somebody by Depeche Mode. So it's funny that Scott and my "song" is Island in the Sun by Weezer! :)

I love the soundtrack to Notting Hill. They have some great songs on there. One of my favorites is "She." Good luck with the details! Can't wait to see you!

A couple relatives took video of Marsha and My wedding and I've been meaning to edit it, add music and put it on DVD for years. I've compiled a list of songs I want on it, many of which can be used for the wedding. Many of them are the typical cheesy songs, but isn't that weddings are all about. There are a lot of older songs (80s & 90s - Is that old?) and a few newer. I have most of these if you need them, just let me know.

They are:
Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes
Elvis Costello - She
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do
Bryan Adams - When You Love Someone
U2 - All I Want Is You
U2 - One Love
Sarah McLachlan - I Will Remember You
Cranberries - Dreams
Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever
John Denver - Annie's Song
The Corrs - Breathless
Sting - Fields of Gold
Yaz - Only You
Ben E King - Stand By Me
Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All
Thompson Twins - Hold Me Now
The Cure - Friday I'm In Love
The Cure – Just Like Heaven
Bryan Adams - All For One, All For Love
Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over
Don Henley - End of the Innocence
Depeche Mode - Somebody
Huey Lewis - Power of Love
Howard Jones - Everlasting Love
Frank Vali - Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You
Faith Hill - Breathe
Roy Orbison - Unchained Melody
LeAnn Rimes - How Do I Live
Supertramp - Give a Little Bit
Rod Stewart - Have I Told You Lately
Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World
Boyzone - No Matter What

Wow--I don't know if I can follow Aaron's comment, but I'll try. :) That was seriously impressive. Well, all I can think of off the top of my head is the soundtrack to sleepless in seattle. My friend Kristin had that soundtrack when I was engaged, and I listened to it all the time! So good--love song classics like "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" by Louis Armstrong---and other total Goodies! I used some of them myself for our wedding video and the reception. LOVE them. Come to think of it, why don't I own that cd?? Good Luck. Love you--and I am SOOO excited. I'm like useless at home. I can't get anything done, I just want to leave tomorrow! I guess I can mope around for one more day. :)
